Hello! So this has been one crazy week! Movers came Friday and then we spent all day Friday, Saturday, and most of Sunday opening boxes. We were quite creative (if we do say so ourselves!) with where to put things since storage is in such short supply.
We continue to be showered with kindness by the other Americans here- two trips to the grocery store with one mom, lunch brought to us on moving day by another mom, a lasagna dinner from our downstairs neighbor- to name a few!
We went to the French Baptist Church Sunday morning with our friends, Allie and Ethan and their children. It was all in French so I understood about 3% of the whole message but I recognized the tune of one praise song and was reminded of His presence - that He has gone before us here and made a place for us.
I will be claiming this and praying and praying as we begin this journey. We certainly feel very strange and VERY much foreigners and outsiders. This is never a bad lesson in life, but not one that is particularly fun at the time! But-We are pushing through!
Here are some random pics - I will post more once I get everything unpacked of the apt!
Start of the move
Sunday night dinner at a yummy crepes restaurant with the Jennings and the Williams families.
A picture of the dryer - I can't read anything it says so am improvising from the pictures!
This is the dryer water drawer which has to be emptied of water after EVERY single load! What?!?
Oven- again.... What do these buttons mean? Oh and it doesn't hold a regular size cookie sheet!!
Our cute little fridge- it's bigger than our dorms at Furman... but not by much!
And the freezer- ICE TRAY!! When is the last time you have seen one of those? And cute Gant - such an ambitious chef! We don't even know how to turn on the oven and he bought a whole chicken!
We had tacos instead- ha!
The "pantry" and "office" (bottom shelf) in the laundry room!
Hen has been watching a lot of movies!! Only so much unpacking an 8 year old can do! What a trooper!
We walked to the little town square today - the main town is Clermont- Ferrand and most of the pics have been of the main downtown- the section of Clermont our apt is located in is called Chemalieres and it has it's own little markets too...this is a picture just outside our apt - I heard an ex-pat yesterday refer to it as the Augusta Road of Clermont. I should fit right in then! Oh right... I can't understand anything anyone is saying!!
Another picture on our street
I don't know what this means yet! So I have no clue what to wear everyday!!
Gant started work on Monday and is settling in. He walks 20 min to and from work- this is his new computer. Only SOME of the keys are different on the keyboard! He said it is taking him forever to write emails because he keeps reaching for the usual spot!
Here he is trying to get our neighbor's Wifi so he can watch the World Cup. We signed up for internet the day we landed and still don't have it! He is leaning out the window with the iPad but it's not working too great!
