Strasbourg, France

We took Henry out of school Friday and Monday for a very special weekend away!

Here we are on the train with Starbucks from the Lyon train station! Woohoo!
First things our eyes saw when we walked out of the train station was a Pretzel stand, or Bretzel as they say here. I hate to admit it, but I am afraid a food court pretzel wins this contest- these are a little bit too hard!!

As we walked to our rental apartment, we could see the beginnings of the Chrismtas decorations. Strasbourg is called the Capital of Christmas and has 12 different Christmas markets full of toys, ornaments, and holiday foods and drinks.

This was our cute little apartment!

We went the first night to the lighting of the tree in a big square with thousands of people. It was amazing!

Here are some of the things for sale at the markets...

Ha!

This is the entrance to one of the markets - each one probably had two or three rows of little wooden buildings.

The cathedral at the bottom...

And from the top! Our friends, the Jenningses, were also there for the weekend so we met up for lunch!

It was chilly!!

Each store takes their decorations very seriously and has beautiful window displays!

At night it is magical!

An amazing light show with music runs every 15 minutes after dark in this big square.

We were sooo cold! Yes, that is a Santa hat. It was the capital of Christmas!!?! When in Rome!!

Look who found Henry in Strasbourg- our elf, Alabama!
