September- Part 2

Here are a few random pictures from the last couple of weeks as we settle into our fall routine...

This photo somehow was left off the last blog and I had to include our friend Ashley experiencing our favorite Vietnamese restaurant!

Henry has just started playing tennis and here is what the waiting area looks like- wine and cigarettes- sometimes things here seem like 1978 or something! Smoking and drinking at the tennis courts? Crazy!

It's that time again- chestnuts are everywhere and just as beautiful as ever!

The company that makes Nutella, Ferrrero Rocher chocolates and Kinder candy bars also makes Tic Tacs. It is an Italian company manufacturing in France. This is their latest flavor- it is so gross! At soccer the other day, I gave some to the kids and one of the French dads we were talking to on the sidelines.
He remarked, " that is the American influence- France would never make such a product otherwise." WELL!! As a true popcorn aficionado, I had to say, "they were onto something there!" Unfortunately since they were so gross, it wasn't much of an argument! Haha! But they just can't help themselves from making such comments!

Henry and his American soccer friend after their game last weekend - they had so much fun!

Henry with his celebratory milkshake for his first goals scored in France! He was so proud after fighting really hard to figure out this style of play over here!

Henry was thrilled to get this year's soccer "kit". It looks so official!! The emblem is for his soccer club- Football Club Chamalieres.

Out on a walk the other day, I stumbled across these buildings and this park. I was having a bit of a blue day, and this helped me to just stop and appreciate what beauty is everywhere here.

Henry and some of his buddies one day at school pick up. They really depend on one another here as they navigate the language and being foreignors together.

Henry and his friend from China coming home for lunch with us.

And another American friend who moved here from Mexico. Clearly Henry is his usual silly self!

Here is a picture of Henry's school from the back. The front has a big red gate where we enter and exit everyday. It looks a bit ominous with the clouds in this picture, but it seems to be a pretty warm environment for the most part.

Yesterday morning, I went to the monthly antique market, premier Mai. If you can zoom in on this picture you will see that the man working this booth was having his breakfast- baguette, ham slices, cheese and of course.. rosé!!!
Breakfast of champions! It was at 8:45 am! Getting that day started with a bang!

I'm pretty sure this dress was worn by me to a high school dance back in 1990.

And our soccer game yesterday in the pouring rain! They don't cancel for any reason!

Here we are getting ready for a kid's fun run with our French friends Lucas and Gaelle.

And after their race they watched as the Color Run went by- you don't have to run that one to look as if you have!
