This is part of the Forum- in such immaculate condition!
We walked all over and saw the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps.
Our next day was full of more beautiful sights- we started at the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel. We ended in St. Peter's Basilica.
Look at this line to get into the Vatican- it wrapped all of the way around the block for what looked like hours of waiting. What we couldn't understand was why? You can buy tickets online!!
Inside the Vatican, pictures aren't really allowed and particularly in the Sistine Chapel. But the chapel ceiling certainly was breathtaking- below are pics of St. Peter's
This was inside - the scale was bigger than I could have imagined. This altar is 9 stories tall!
Here is the outside of the Vatican and St. Peter's- Chairs were already set up for people to gather to see the pope two days later.
A special dinner in Rome at the Hotel Hassler.
We drove down the coast to the beautiful town of Positano. Even in the rain it was captivating.
Lunch overlooking the Mediterranean

Then off to Pompeii for the day!!

Look how this tile is still in its original form- this was a person's home!!!!
Pompeii is truly a historical marvel!
Henry "yukking" it up in Pompeii
The next day we went to the Island of Capri for the day. We took a boat over and rode a funicular to the top of the twin. Check out that view!
It had such beautiful white -washed buildings and lots of fun shopping streets.
Then Gant flew back to Clermont to go back to work- BOO!!!
Mom, Henry and I drove onto Tuscany to a town about an hour from Siena. Here were the views on the way and around us.
Quite a relaxing place!
We spent our last day in Tuscany in Florence - here is Henry NOT wanting to take a picture in front of the Duomo.
These European cities just don't disappoint!
We had another wonderful trip - we sure are blessed to be able to see so many amazing places while we are here. It is even more fun to share them!! Thank you, Mom!
We came back just in time for the annual Halloween picnic for the Americans here. It was fun to see everyone after vacation.
Here is how Henry started out, but he ran around too much to keep his wig on for long!
We are now into November and just in a regular routine- but, as usual just for 6 weeks!!
