Feb/ March- odds and ends in Clermont

34
We love our French friends, but I hate to say this is the true attitude of many of the French! Translation- I love nothing, I'm Parisian! I saw this in a tee shirt shop in Clermont. Ha!

And another glimpse into how Americans are viewed by many of the French- see the shirt in the middle!!

Here are Henry and some other kiddos at school on "Carnaval" day- they dress up in costume, (hope you can tell Henry is dressed as a nerd 😉) eat crepes, and play outside on the concrete for an hour. No games, bounce houses or prizes- he is going to think a school carnival back in the US is Disneyland! But as I have said before, the "low- key ness" of how they do a lot of things here makes me see how much we OVERdo somethings to make them fun for children. When in reality, they can just have a ball with very little if they are with people they enjoy (and maybe some fun music playing!)

The crepes table

Some of us were standing around talking about how we didn't know how to make crepes -and it seems like something we should go home ready to prepare for our friends! One expat knew how to make them so offered to teach us! Here are the pictures of us in the process of learning  and taste testing! They are very similar to pancake batter, just thinner.

The crepe pan and crepe flipper!

It was quite a success, but mostly it was so much fun to cook together!

Henry had braces put on just his four front teeth and here they do clear braces instead of metal. He was disappointed to not have more of a "braces" look with bright rubber bands etc. Ha. Here is a major close- up!

It is still cold here right now and we are all ready for the sun, but enjoying one last burst of cozy fires and soup!

One last picture, protests aren't allowed in Paris since it is officially still in a state of emergency. Protests and strikes of one kind or another are a weekly occurrence in France. So this is what a group did in Paris instead- thought it was a cool picture!

I can't edit it for some reason so sorry for the blurry screenshot- but you get the idea!
