Staycation

It is such a neat thing to have the exact same type of tree in our front yard here as we did on East Prentiss. This Japanese Maple is a sweet reminder of Spring and the warmer weather to come!

We stuck around here for Spring Break since we have some trips comingup and   Gant had to do some travelling for work.

Henry took a tennis camp with some friends from school and here we are all eating lunch in the park one day after tennis. It was a really fun group.

We went to an Irish pub for dinner in Clermont - it tasted a little like..... Ruby Tuesday?!? Funny.

My guys

The Harlem Globetrotters came to Clermont the other night!  They had a French translator for the English show- nice to have English as the main event for a change.

The kiddos had so much fun watching all of the tricks and dancing.

We were all in a bit of a silly mood

This player, "Hi-lite", was from Greer, South Carolina!!! When he found out we were from Greenville, he let the kids behind the rope to get all of the team's autographs! So nice of him!

The English movie, Zootopia, came here, but only in French. This is only the second movie I have seen in a theater in almost two years - I took Henry and a friend. They had to explain a few things to me, even in a cartoon!

Henry and Lucas

Lucas got a really big bag of candy!

This is a game played all over Europe called Flash Invaders- all of these pixelated images that look like Space
Invaders (from the old video game) are placed on the sides of buildings in big cities. ( Clermont qualified -although not too big of a city). There are 31 of these all over the city  (they all look different) and we have had a great time hunting for them all week.

Gant was able to take one day off and we went to Lyon for the day. There is a beautiful park right in the middle of town that has a botanical garden and a zoo- we had such a nice day there!

This is the entrance to the park (translated the Golden Head) right next to apartment buildings etc.

We had a great lunch and a traditional Lyonnaise salad.

For our last day of vacation, Henry and I went to the ropes course. I hadn't been up in trees like that since college. It was actually really fun ( except the zip line where I twisted backwards and hit the tree at the end with my tailbone 😁)

See- it's pretty far down!!

Next week Henry is going on a field trip with the 4th grade to Provence. He is so excited!! It's 4 nights!! - there is one French (English speaking) mom I know going who said she would text me updates!
