Corsica

We are winding up this summer break! What fun it has been- we are in for a RUDE awakening when we go back to the US vacation schedule!

We flew from Lyon to Ajaccio, Corsica. It is an absolutely beautiful island.
Our first hotel was lovely- here are some pictures from our first night and then just the view from around the pool.

The next night we went into the nearest town for dinner, Propriano- we had fun seeing all of the boats in the harbor

And walking on the rocks on the shore at sunset

Henry almost always wants pizza 😌

Some friends recommended a beach where we went for a day- apparently it is on some lists of top 10 beaches in the world- amazing!

This is the view as you drive down

Here is Palombaggia- it was very windy so we weren't able to stay all day, but we had a great seafood lunch!

LOTS of people soaking up one last week of vacation in August!

Mid- week we moved to a new hotel on another part of the island- equally as beautiful as the place we just left. Someone pinch us! We feel so grateful to be able to see all of these places while we are living in Europe!

What a gorgeous pool/ beach here

The guys are scouting out their snorkeling spots

Lunch on our terrace

The quaint spot for meals at our hotel

What a sweet book my friend, Susan, brought to me last year. I just read it on this trip - such a testament to female friendships.

I also finally read this gift from my sister -in -law, Lynn. I love Anna Quindlen and this was a great beach book. I have gotten so used to reading on a Kindle since I can't buy English books anywhere in France, that it was a real treat to hold a book!!

And lastly, a picture taken hopefully without the kids knowing!! This is Henry playing with two kids he met in the pool. They are speaking French and English- the thing I am the MOST proud of Henry since living in France is his courage! He just started talking to these kids he didn't know and asked them if they wanted to play a game. He might have done the same thing in the US, but there he would not have had the cultural or language differences he has here. He has had to put himself out there time after time in sports, school, social settings with French families etc. So at a time where he doesn't have to interact with others or strike up a conversation since we are with him, now it is just a part of what he does!!! I hope he will never lose the desire to get to know others and pursue them no matter what they might or might not have in common. We are so thankful for this experience for him for so many reasons and this is just one example!

Back to Clermont tomorrow - then Gant starts work Monday, Henry starts soccer Wednesday and school on Thursday. I can't believe we have a 5th grader!
